  • We collect information you provide directly (account details, uploaded images) and information generated through your use of the Service (usage data, log data).
  • We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, to communicate with you, and to ensure security.
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
  • Your image data belongs to you. We do not use your uploaded images for any purpose other than providing the Service.
  • You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

1. What Information Does NimbusImage Collect?

Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, institutional affiliation, and password. If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information through our payment processor; we do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. You may also provide information when you contact us for support, submit feedback, or participate in surveys.

Demographic Information

We may collect demographic information such as your research field, institution type, and role (e.g., principal investigator, postdoc, graduate student) to help us understand our user base and improve the Service.

User Content

When you upload images to NimbusImage, those images and any associated metadata (file names, dimensions, channel information) are stored on our servers to provide the analysis service. Analysis results, annotations, segmentation masks, and quantification data you generate through the Service are also stored in association with your account.

Usage Data

We collect usage information such as which features you use, the types of analyses you run, processing times, and error logs. This helps us understand how the Service is used and identify areas for improvement.

Device and Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information when you access the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, referring URLs, pages visited, and the dates and times of your visits.

Location Data

We may infer your approximate geographic location from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation data from your device.

Cookies, Web Beacons, and Local Storage

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and collect analytics data. We use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics and Outseta) to help us understand usage patterns. These services may collect information about your use of the Service using cookies and similar technologies.

Information Third Parties Provide About You

We may receive information about you from third-party services that you use in connection with NimbusImage, such as authentication providers if you choose to sign in through a third-party service. We may also receive information from our payment processor regarding the status of your subscription.

2. How Do We Use the Information Collected?

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service operation: To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including processing your images and delivering analysis results.
  • Personalization: To personalize your experience, remember your preferences, and deliver content relevant to your research interests.

  • Legal compliance: To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not use your uploaded images or analysis results to train machine learning models unless you explicitly opt in to such use. Your research data remains yours.

3. How and When Do We Disclose Information to Third Parties?

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With your consent: We may share your information with third parties when you give us explicit consent to do so.
  • Service providers: We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), payment processing (Stripe via Outseta), email delivery, and analytics. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only as necessary to provide their services to us.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
  • Rights protection: We may disclose information when we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of CytoPixel, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: If CytoPixel is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

We do NOT sell your personal data.

4. Data Transfer, Retention, and Deletion

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, where our servers are located. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you acknowledge this transfer.

We retain your account information and uploaded data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.

You may export your data at any time through the Service's export functionality. Upon account deletion, your uploaded images and analysis results will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Memex Desktop Privacy Notice

Version 1.0 · Effective Date: July 26, 2026

CytoPixel Software LLC ("CytoPixel," "we," "us," or "our") publishes Memex Desktop, an application you install and run on your own computer. This notice explains what happens to your information when you use it.

The short version:

  • CytoPixel collects nothing. We operate no servers for Memex. There are no accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no usage tracking of any kind. We do not know that you have installed the application, and we cannot see your files.
  • Your vault stays on your computer. The files Memex organizes are ordinary files in a folder you choose. They are never uploaded to us.
  • Your information does go to Anthropic — the company that provides the AI agent — using your own Anthropic account. That is how the application works, and it is the most important thing in this notice. See Section 2.
  • We have nothing to delete. Because we hold no information about you, there is no account to close and no data for us to export or erase.

1. Information CytoPixel Collects

None.

We do not collect personal information, contact information, demographic information, file contents, file names, prompts, usage statistics, feature analytics, error reports, crash dumps, device identifiers, or IP addresses. The application contains no analytics or telemetry code. We have no database of users and no ability to identify you.

We collect information only if you choose to contact us directly, for example by emailing support or opening an issue in our public code repository. In that case we have whatever you send us, and we use it only to respond to you.

2. What Leaves Your Device, and to Whom

Although CytoPixel receives nothing, using the application does send information to other parties. There are three, and none of them route through us.

2.1 Anthropic — your prompts and your vault contents

The application works by sending information to Anthropic, PBC using your own Anthropic or Claude account. This includes what you type into the application and the contents of files in your vault that the AI agent reads while working on your requests. The agent chooses which files to read in order to answer you, so any information you place in a vault may be sent to Anthropic.

This relationship is directly between you and Anthropic. Anthropic's Privacy Policy and the terms applicable to your plan — Commercial Terms for Team, Enterprise, and API users, or Consumer Terms of Service for Free, Pro, and Max users — govern that information, including how long Anthropic keeps it and what Anthropic may do with it.

CytoPixel is not a party to that relationship. We do not receive a copy of that information, cannot access it, cannot control its retention or use, and cannot delete or retrieve it. Requests concerning information you have sent to Anthropic must go to Anthropic.

Please review the Memex Desktop Terms of Use before placing confidential, regulated, or otherwise sensitive information in a vault. Certain categories, including protected health information, are prohibited.

2.2 GitHub — software update checks

The application checks for new versions by contacting GitHub, where our releases are published. As with any request to a website, GitHub receives your IP address and the details of the request, and GitHub's own privacy practices apply to it. These checks tell us nothing: we do not receive GitHub's logs and cannot identify individual users from them.

2.3 Services you choose to open

The application connects to other services only at your direction. This includes links you click, which open in your own web browser; pages you configure the application to display; and any connectors or integrations you enable inside your own Anthropic account, which operate under Anthropic's terms rather than ours. Each of those services handles your information according to its own privacy policy.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

The application saves a small configuration file in your operating system's standard application-data directory. It contains the paths of vaults you have opened recently, which vault you last used, which tool approvals you have granted for each vault, and a record that you accepted these documents, including the version accepted and the date.

This file never leaves your computer. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can delete it by uninstalling the application and removing its application-data directory.

Your vault itself is ordinary files and folders on your disk, under your control. Deleting them is a matter of deleting the folder.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The application is not a website and sets no cookies for its own purposes. We use no web beacons, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or tracking services.

If you configure the application to display an external web page, that page may set cookies in the application's isolated browser view, exactly as it would in your browser, and that page's own privacy policy applies.

5. Disclosure of Information to Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information, because we do not have any. We hold no information that could be disclosed to advertisers, data brokers, or business partners, and none that could be produced in response to a subpoena or government request.

If CytoPixel were involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, there would likewise be no Memex user information to transfer.

6. Data Transfer, Retention, and Deletion

We retain no information about you, so there is nothing for us to transfer across borders, nothing to retain, and nothing to delete. You do not need to make a request to us to have your information erased.

Information you have sent to Anthropic is retained and deleted according to Anthropic's policies. Requests about it should be directed to Anthropic.

7. Your Rights

Privacy laws in various jurisdictions, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and several United States states, give individuals rights to access, correct, delete, or port their personal information, and to object to certain processing. Those rights apply to organizations that hold personal information. Because we hold none, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete in response to such a request.

To exercise those rights with respect to information you have sent to Anthropic, contact Anthropic. If you believe we hold information about you and wish to inquire, you may contact us at the address in Section 10.

8. Children's Privacy

The application is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. See also the eligibility provision in the Memex Desktop Terms of Use.

9. Changes to This Notice

We may update this notice. When we do, we will update its version and effective date, publish the updated notice on our website, and present it to you in the application. Because we hold no contact information for you, presenting it in the application is our method of notifying you.
